Pramshade/ Sombra para carro de niños
The pramshade consists of a shaft, a fitting brace, a shade and a photodetecting sphere, which also acts as a pivot upon which the shade moves.
The starting position is for the sun to be directly over the pramshade and the shade is at 180º angle to the direct rays of the sun. The idea is that as the sun moves relative to the shade the shade will "follow" the sun and maintain the 180º angle relative to the direction if the sun. Notice that the shaft remains fixed.
The PhotoDetectingSphere(PDS) is attached to the shade. Its main objectives are:
  • Continually probe where the sun is, or where on the sphere the light is stongest
  • Move its pole to the position of strongest light and in doing so it positions the shade at 180º to the sun, shielding the baby

The PDS will include the following
  • An electrical motor on a pivot which will move the sphere into various positions
  • photosensors in each quadrant to measure the optical power in each quadrant
  • A progammable microchip to calculate the quadrant with the most power and to instruct the motor to move into the required position
